My prints are hand pressed from a variety of surface textures. This allows me to preserve the unique visual rhythms and “inner space" of each object on paper. The works on this site incorporate textures from scratched wood, exposed wood grains, cracked glass, Romex wire insulation, duct tape and slate tiles. An example of this process can be seen in the print “Interface”. The inspiration came from a broken window pane. I carefully removed it from the frame in order to preserve the “smash” that issued from the point of impact. Through hand printing, I captured each facet in its intricate web of fractured glass.
