We have approximately 55 artist members who work in Southwestern Pennsylvania and exhibit nationwide. The organization is governed by its own by-laws and is administered by a committee of elected officers and appointed chairpersons.
Printmaking is a diverse art form. Artists use a variety of techniques, including intaglio, lithography, relief, monoprint, collograph, embossing and combinations of mixed media to produce images, which are transferred to a medium such as paper or fabric. The group intentionally keeps the definition of a "print" non-specific, so that we may remain open to all present and future possibilities in printmaking.
The Print Group seeks to advance the art of printmaking by providing avenues for local printmakers to exhibit and sell their work throughout open exchange of ideas and technical information. Members regularly conduct demonstrations, give lectures, and produce literature explaining printmaking and its place in contemporary art. We also join with museums, art centers, schools and universities and galleries throughout the Pittsburgh region to produce educational programs covering the art and craft of printmaking.
